Mineralogy: Pyrite and Associated Minerals
Cubic and octahedral pyrite from the Huanzala mine in the province of Huallanca, Peru. The cubic and octahedral pyrite from this Peruvian deposit is particularly interesting because of its associations with calcite, blende (sphalerite), quartz, galena, and chalcopyrite. This association reflects the complex hydrothermal conditions that led to the formation of the Huanzala deposit, one of the most productive mining sites in the Peruvian Andes.
Origin: Huanzala Mine, Huallanca Province, Peru.
